BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The specialty deals with the management of the periodontal disease i.e. diseases of gums and jaw bones. Periodontal disease is a disease of neglect. Neglect of healthy mouth by improper brushing and deleterious habits leading to poor oral hygiene, are the main etiological causes of this diseases. There is an extremely high incidence (90%) of periodontal problems in the Indian population.

The deposits of teeth are removed by Oral prophylaxis also called as scaling and root planing by means of hand instruments/ultrasonic scalers. Patients with severe gum diseases are scanned and reviewed after the initial procedure of prophylaxis. On an average daily 100 patients were treated in the department.

IMPLANTOLOGY

The Dept of implantology maintains an impressionable amalgamation of scientific and research activities. The students here are educated and trained to practice efficient implant surgical techniques by innovative preclinical exercises and constant guidance on clinical cases. We provide best possible treatment to patients by developing a good rapport and giving good diagnosis and treatment using state of art materials and techniques.

The department is well equipped with latest equipment like peizo-surgical unit, multiple physiodispensers and advanced surgical instruments. We also have a wide range of implant kits and systems helping the students in learning various designs.

Implantology provides lot of research avenues in the process of restoring lost teeth with implants and also to fabricate prosthesis for maxillofacial deformity patients. The staff and post-graduates of the department is keen to utilize this opportunity for research programmes. The staff and postgraduates of the department have participated in various scientific forum and delivered guest lectures, orations, and presented scientific papers, seminars nationally.

Department practices standard operating procedures at subsidized cost without any compromise in the quality. Total rehabilitation of patients is the Moto of the department.
